This week we welcomed the opened the book team to the prep school. Our willing bunch or volunteers pictured above enjoyed dressing up and taking part in learning from the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt and through the wilderness. We learnt that after the euphoria of being free the moaning and the complaining set in and the Israelites forgot what wonderful things God had done for them. We finished by reminding ourselves that there is always something positive to dwell on and that complaining helps no one.
Philippians 4:8 ‘In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honourable.’
In the senior school, we reflected on the wonderful spectacle that was England verses New Zealand in the Semi-final of the Rugby world cup. In both the New Zealand game and the game against Australia much was said of England’s team work and unity and these were our themes for reflection this week. Our bible verse for reflection was Ephesians 4:16
‘From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.’
Just as the England players had done their individual work well their level of commitment to each other and the team each man prepared to do just as much as the man on his shoulder.
We finished with wise words from Winnie the Pooh and the thought that we may not be an international rugby star be we can be there part of the team for someone.
‘The three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny little bit better.’
Because Pooh and Piglet were There.
No more; no less.
