Early Years Diary – 23rd November 2020

Ladybirds 0 – 12 months

The Ladybirds have been completing some Christmas craft and exploring the different textures of the materials we used. For example feeling the fluffy cotton wool for our snowmen.  We have also been exploring sound using the musical instruments.

Next week we will be continuing with our Christmas craft and singing Christmas songs.

 

Caterpillars 12 – 18 months

The Caterpillar room have enjoyed exploring the colour green this week in the sensory tray with a variety of green objects and materials.  We have also been mark making using chalks and continuing with our Christmas Craft.

Next week we will be continuing singing Christmas songs during our group time activities and focusing on the colour red.

Butterflies 18 – 24 months

In the Butterfly room we have continued with our Christmas Craft and been making some Salt dough stars and Christmas Trees. We have also spent lots of time outside, exploring our surroundings and talking about the weather.

Next week we will be continuing our Christmas craft and learning more Christmas songs. We will also be focusing on colours and shapes.

Bumblebees 24 – 30 months

​This week in the Bumblebee room, we have made a Father Christmas Scarecrow for John to go in the raised vegetable beds. We used natural resources such as wood and shells, the children then helped to stuff it with hay. We have also decorated our Christmas Tree using the children’s Christmas craft and been busy learning some Christmas songs.

Next week we will be decorating salt dough tree decorations using glitter and paint. We will also be focusing on shapes in the environment and trying to match them with objects we see.

 

Dragonflies 30 – 36 months

This week in the Dragonfly room, we have continued with our Christmas craft. We have also done a beautiful Winter board with Snowmen and Polar bears. We have had lots of fun outside playing parachute and ball games on the field.  

Next week we will be continuing our Christmas craft. We will also be making a Santa and reindeer’s for our Winter board and continuing to learn our colours at group time. We will also be practicing for our Christmas sing along

Pre-School

The Pre-School children have been learning about the Artic and cold climates. We have looked at the globe and located the North & South pole. We then started learning about the animals that live in the Artic and Antarctica. We have also been busy doing lots of Christmas Crafts and learning Christmas Songs. During our Outdoor Exploration, we have learnt about the way penguins move and behave. We had great fun sliding down the bank on our bellies, waddling and flapping our wings like Penguins.  

Next week we will be continuing with our Christmas Crafts and decorating Pre-School with our Christmas Decorations. We will also be making 2 or 3 coloured patterns in maths using threading beads

Early Years Diary – 13th November 2020

Ladybirds 0 – 12 months

The Ladybirds have been exploring natural objects this week alongside creating poppies for Remembrance Day. We have also been playing with farm animals and learning what noises they make. We have started our Christmas craft using a variety of resources.

Next week we will be beginning to learn about colours and we will have a different colour to focus on each week.

 

Caterpillars 12 – 18 months

The Caterpillar room have also been making Poppies for Remembrance Day; we have been learning the colour ‘red’ by building towers using red blocks and have been mark making using chalk.

Next week we will be ‘filling and emptying’ using yellow scoops and yellow balls developing our hand eye co-ordination.

Butterflies 18 – 24 months

The Butterfly room have been busy counting a variety of objects during play exploration and group time. We have also been practising our balancing skills outside and in the physical room using the balance beam. We have also started to look at our Christmas craft this week

Next week we will be continuing our Christmas craft and focusing on being kind to others.

Bumblebees 24 – 30 months

The bumblebees have been creating their own firework/bonfire pictures and exploring colours and sounds around the environment. We have been on lots of nature walks around the school grounds collecting pine cones ready to decorate for our Christmas craft.

Next week we will be starting our Christmas craft activities including making wreaths. We will also be practising singing our Christmas songs and exploring other festivals around the world.

 

Dragonflies 30 – 36 months

This week we have been updating our artwork board exploring different textures and materials. We have also been developing our gross motor skills in the physical room.

Next week we will be focusing on our Phonics and learning to recognise numbers 1-10 at group time. We will also be starting our Christmas craft. . 

Pre-School

This week we have been learning about our senses in Pre-School, taste, touch, smell, sight and listening. We have been listening to different sounds of instruments in our music lesson, and exploring how a keyboard works. In our cookery session, we learnt about the different parts of our tongue and how we taste, sweet, savoury, spicy and sour.

Next week we will be introducing our topic of Christmas, learning some Christmas songs to perform at the end of term

Early Years Diary – 2nd November 2020

Ladybirds 0 – 12 months

This week the ladybirds have had a lot of fun exploring colour through different sensory toys & lights, we have also created a firework painting.

Next week we will be exploring natural objects and beginning our Christmas craft.

Caterpillars 12 – 18 months

The Caterpillar rooms have been creating firework/bonfire pictures using homemade recycled stamps. We have also been learning the names of foods using the role play kitchen – focusing on fruits and vegetables; apples, carrots, bananas, and broccoli.

Next weekwe will be learning about farm animals and making poppies for remembrance day focusing on the colour red

Butterflies 18 – 24 months

The butterfly room have been exploring colours through marble painting to support balance and control when making marks. We have also been creating Firework pictures. Our main focus this week has been colours & animals.

Next week we will be focusing on creative play making craft ready for Christmas

Dragonflies 30 – 36 months

The Dragonflies have been reading the story of the Gruffalo and talking about the characters within the story. They have been noticing the different features such as the purple prickles all over his back and his orange eyes! The children have been also been practicing using their ‘S’ sound just like the snake from the story! The children have also enjoyed splashing in muddy puddles on our nature walks.

Next week we will be making Gruffalo Crumble to extend our learning from our book of the month. 

Pre-School  

In Pre-School this week, we have been learning about ‘bonfire night’ and talking to the children about the safety around watching fireworks, holding sparklers and bonfires. We created our own ‘pretend bonfire’ within the classroom and the children initiated the ideas of toasting marshmallows!

Next week we will be exploring the topic of our senses, talking about sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell

Early Years Diary – 26th October 2020

Ladybirds 0 – 12 months

This week the ladybirds have been settling in their new friends and exploring the new environment. We have been making sounds with musical instruments and singing along to nursery rhymes. We have also been developing our hand to eye coordination to push down the buttons on the spinning tops and settling in their new friends and exploring the new environment. We have been making sounds with musical instruments and singing along to nursery rhymes.

Next week we will be exploring colour and paint linked to firework night, and Introducing puppets into our group time sessions

Caterpillars 12 – 18 months

We have been developing our fine motor skills by icing biscuits and adding a variety of sprinkles! sticky fingers and big smiles all round. We have also enjoyed developing eye to hand co-ordination by using the shape sorter to fit the blocks into the holes,

Next week we will be creating firework pictures using homemade recycled stamps and learning the names of foods using the role play kitchen

Butterflies 18 – 24 months

The butterfly room have been practicing counting numbers ‘1, 2’ 3’. They have also been exploring simple shapes; circle, triangle and square. The children have been really good at repeating after their key workers and pointing to the different shapes they see.

Next week we will explore colours through marble painting to support balance and control when making marks

Bumblebees 24 – 30 months

This week we have been getting ready for Halloween and creating lots of creepy crafts! The children have enjoyed making glittery bats, slimy pumpkins and monster cupcakes.

Next week we will be creating our own fireworks pictures and exploring colours and sounds around the environment.

Dragonflies 30 – 36 months

The Dragonflies have been busy learning the alphabet this week and making pictures linked to each letter. They were very excited about the crowns they have made to make them look like a queen – “qu” sound.

Next week we will be exploring the story ‘The Gruffalo’ and activities linked to this, and continuing on work on sounds.

Pre-School Holiday Club

During the half term holiday club your pre-schoolers have been continuing the autumn theme by going on woodland adventures and making spiders using card and pipe cleaners.

Next week we look forward to welcoming everyone one back and pre-school will commence again. We hope you all had a lovely half term! We are going to be talking about firework safety, bonfires and introducing our senses topic for the rest of the term
