So, how did day one go? From where we were sitting, the pupils were amazing, both in the classroom and online – cheerful, accepting and keen to get on with their lessons.
Parents who dropped their children in for their lateral-flow tests this morning were extremely helpful and those picking up their children were very respectfully keeping their distance from one another.
Pupils in school sitting their public exams were all ready and raring to go!
Whilst observing several classes today it was charming to see that when a class was over, pupils wanted to stick around just to talk to their teacher. Like our pupils, our teachers are learning with this relatively new style of education and it is building up a totally new trust and bond within each class.
The only little mishap was that some senior school pupils forgot to bring in their devices, webcams and charging leads, and usual school equipment such as pencil cases and calculators.
In the grand scheme of things, it really has been a great day.
Thank you to everyone in the Kingsley community for your forbearance and exceptional support.
I am sure everyone is exhausted – sleep well!
