It was lovely to welcome all the children back this week after the lovely half-term break and what a busy week we have had.

It was a great pleasure being able to introduce Pete Last, the new Headmaster of Kingsley School, to some of you on Monday evening and he certainly enjoyed meeting you. Pete also gave an excellent speech last night at the welcome event for all parents to meet him where it was clear that he is strongly committed to the school for the long term and that he understands what it is that makes Kingsley so special.

I enjoyed meeting a number of Pre School parents on Tuesday morning as we begin the transition process into Reception. There will be a number of opportunities over the coming year for pupils with parents to visit the Reception class for stay-and-play sessions, so that we begin the gentle process of induction into full-time school. But if any of you would like to arrange a time to meet with us to have a personal tour of the Junior School in action, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Mr Ward took Jersey (Year 5) and Henry (Year 6) to a judo competition at Wellington School where Henry took on and beat a sixth former – great job! And I was delighted in celebration assembly yesterday to present Gaius with the first Bronze Merit Award for Year 3 this year for gaining 16 merits for helpfulness.

And today we have the Cross Country event this afternoon for over 120 children from a number of local primary schools competing with all our pupils on the course here at Kingsley. My thanks to Mr Wilson for his organisation and I am looking forward to welcoming Mr Lane back to the school to present the prizes at the end.

At the same time we have our Open Afternoon and then, of course, the amazing Kingsley Bonfire Night and Fireworks. As my family have been here with me this week, I am very much looking forward to taking them to this fantastic event organised so well by the Friends, and where Mr Jobbins’s soup is legendary, I understand!

Have a good weekend.
