Grassroots to International Judoka

It was a pleasure to attend Kingsley School Judo Club‘s 2016 Awards Night yesterday in our school theatre. Our specialist judo coach, Mr Ward, hosted the evening, sharing and celebrating the club’s tremendous success over the last year.

The club’s judoka collected 169 medals during 2016 of which 75 were gold, 38 silver and 56 bronze. From the 668 contests, up and down the country and in Europe, 389 were won. It is little wonder that the judo club is rapidly growing such a strong reputation for the development of junior players, from beginners to international level judoka.

Above all, the character on and off the mats was apparent last night. The respect for one another and the creation of so many role-models within the club was a pleasure to observe. Well done to everyone in the club and to Mr Ward for his unstinting dedication to this sport.
