There is no greater honour than representing your country. This week Alice and Ruby have been called up to join the U16 England Handball team just three years after taking up the sport at Kingsley. This was a hard-fought, well-deserved selection and will give the rest of the Kingsley handball squad and the Devon handball team a well of confidence and experience upon which to draw in the future.
Congratulations girls, we are so very proud of you.🎉🎉🎉
The girls would like to pass on their thanks to Mr Mathers and Aym for their endless enthusiasm and constant support.
The Regional Academy Tournament took place at Stoke Mandeville, England Handball’s National Training Centre on Sunday.
Teams from the South East, South West, East, Midlands and North West regions all took part.
Kingsley’s Alice, Ruby and Megan were playing in the South West team – the girls are now amongst 140 of the most promising female and male players under the age of 16 in the country. They were bidding to impress watching National Academy Head Coaches Ilona Loewnau and Chris McDemott at the tournament. Following this event the Head Coaches will look to select a training group of around 25-30 players each for the girl’s and boy’s National Academies – so fingers crossed!!
The team finished 2nd in this national tournament. We are all so proud of the SW team, and especially our Kingsley girls!
