It was an impressive performance from Kingsley School Judo Club at the West Of England Championships in Paignton on Sunday. With over 200 Young Athletes and over 30 teams representing clubs from all 7 Regions from within the Western Area, Kingsley finished the event as the top club and help Devon claim the overall team trophy.

Kingsley judoka performed incredibly well with our team of 16 returning with 14 medals from the total of 54 contests throughout the day. We won 9 Gold and now have 9 West of England Champions for 2018.

One of the stand out performances came from Elise (Year 3) who won all four of her bouts to win Gold. Gareth (Year 11) took a well-earned break from his GCSE revision to win a Silver medal, while Liam (Year 8) just missed an opportunity to win a bronze medal. Unfortunately, illness prevented Jersey (Year 6) from competing at this year’s event.

These excellent performances should help motivate the team ahead of this weekends ISA schools National Judo Championships in High Wycombe.
