Youth Speaks – annual UK wide event for public speaking
Each competing team’s maturity and skill at presenting was quite amazing and they were all a credit to their respective schools and their parents.
The event today was judged by a panel of Rotarians who scored the presenters based on talk structure, quality of content, skill in delivery and interest and enjoyment for the audience.
Our senior team, Gabe, Megan and Nat talked eloquently on ‘Surfing or sex; which sells best’ and we are delighted that they were chosen by the judges today to go through to the District Finals in Saltash on Saturday 23rd March.
Our intermediate team, Hannah, Lulu and Freddie T talked on ‘Equal rights, equal opportunities’ and gave a really empassioned performance and were praised by the judges and received excellent feedback. The team were pipped by Braunton Academy and Pilton Community College and we wish them all the very best in the next round of this competition.
Congratulations to our Kingsley team and to all the teams from other schools competing today for taking part and working on a key life skill.
The pupils would like to thank Miss Kathryn Makepeace and Mrs Natalie Marquet-Georgiou for all their time, energy and encouragement in preparing them for Youth Speaks.
Finally, thank you to the Rotary Club for giving our students such a excellent opportunity to develop their public speaking.
