Hello from North Devon Cricket Club in Instow! Our under-13 team is kicking off their first cricket game of the season today, and I'm here to celebrate this and our partnerships with local sporting clubs, enhancing our students' opportunities to engage in sports at various levels.

Today, I want to highlight the enriching experiences we’re planning for our students, particularly through international trips. Our Year 11 and 12 geographers are looking forward to the upcoming Iceland trip this September, and we’re also organising a ski trip for next Easter. We strive to offer these experiences while being mindful of their affordability and our families' financial situations.

To manage expectations and assist in planning, we will publish a list of trips for the next academic year by each Easter, allowing families and students to prepare well in advance. This approach helps students think about ways they might contribute financially, such as saving pocket money or taking on part-time jobs.

Switching gears to our thriving arts scene, I'm currently at our theatre bridge, now an exhibition space for our student artists. It’s inspiring to see their creativity on display, so feel free to visit if you’re around. Congratulations to our students who recently completed their art exams, and to Ava for her outstanding achievement in her musical theatre singing exam.

Our Earth Centre pathway has also been a beehive of activity, with projects ranging from biodiversity mapping to water quality testing on our campus. This initiative is part of our Kingsley Earth Centre diploma and highlights our commitment to practical, hands-on environmental education.

I must also commend everyone involved in our recent Wellness and Mental Health Day. It was a day filled with activities that contributed to our community’s wellbeing, enjoyed by all—even my dog Stanley!

As we gear up for the Ten Tors and Jubilee Challenge, thanks to Mr. Watteau, Miss Brent, and all volunteers helping our students prepare for these significant events.

Looking ahead, don’t forget the school fair on May 6th. We’re collecting jam jars and tombola prizes, so please bring those to reception. We’re also excited about the upcoming surf events, especially with Willow competing on May 5th.

Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement. Have a fantastic weekend, and I’ll see you again next week!
