Last week Kingsley School Judo Club travelled to the inspirational, University of Bath Sports Training Village, the venue used by so many World Class Elite Athletes and Sports Teams, including many of the Rio Olympians and Paralympians.
The event was hosted by Judo Coach Juergen Klinger at the University’s Dojo, and supported by the West of England Judo Association performance pathway coaches Jason Parsons and Kingsley’s Simon Ward.
Our promising young judokas had a unique opportunity to actually learn and train alongside Team Bath’s high-performance full-time Elite Judo group, including Rio 2016 Olympian Ben Fletcher.
Ben was joined by many other top Junior and Senior International medalists and Great Britain Squad Members who were all training together in the Dojo and were also under the watchful eye of the current Great Britain Lead Coach, Jean-Paul Bell, who was supporting with his wealth of experience offering the children much-valued knowledge.
Juergen said: “It was great to see so many people of different levels of experience training alongside each other. There was a real buzz in the dojo and we plan to have more days like this in the future.”
