Walking from Barnstaple to Bideford on the Tarka Trail

Ladies only. Age 16 plus

Kingsley are sponsoring the North Devon Hospice Nightwalk again this year and it would be great to have a big team of staff, parents and Governors, friends and families walking on the night.

The Nightwalk is a ladies-only, moonlit, sponsored walk. More than a thousand women will walk together in aid of North Devon Hospice. The routes glow not only with your torches and glow sticks, but with the electric 1980’s atmosphere created by those taking part! The North Devon Hospice are hoping to raise £100,000 from this year’s Nightwalk, which will help provide care during the night for local patients and families.

At the Nightwalk there is music and entertainment, refreshments to keep you fuelled, and the warmest of welcomes awaiting you at the finish.

To register: go to or just follow the links from the North Devon Hospice home page, please detail that you will be walking with the Kingsley School team when you register online and don’t forget to tick the Barnstaple to Bideford route.

This year we will all be wearing 1980’s gear!
For the night obviously comfortable footwear, tracksuit trousers or leggings (preferably black but not compulsory), adding some beely boppers, tutus, leg warmers or whatever takes your fancy and is fun!

We will have Kingsley School minibuses going to Barnstaple from the old Cattle Market carpark, Bideford (just behind Bideford Rugby Club). The buses will be leaving Bideford at 6.30pm to arrive at Barnstaple Rugby Club at 7pm. At the end of the walk you can arrange to be collected by your family from Bideford RFC or a Kingsley School minibus will bring you back to Kingsley School.

There is lots of information on the North Devon Hospice website about fundraising. Once you have collected your sponsorship monies you can hand them into Mrs Diane Smart in the Junior School Office or you can take then to the North Devon Hospice directly (just make sure you let them know you are in the Kingsley team).

If you have any queries in the meantime regarding the walk please contact either Philippa Veillet ( or Lucy Goaman (01237 426203 or by email or Mrs Cathy Whaley ( or on 07834 161250) or Mrs Wendy Flint ( or on 01237 426223.)
