KSI Education are very pleased to announce the appointment of Alastair Ramsay as Interim Headteacher of Kingsley School. Alastair will lead the school during the Autumn Term 2021 following the departure of Gill Jackson and the arrival of the new Headteacher, for whom a selection process is underway, in January 2022.
Alastair is already known to staff at Kingsley as he joined KSI as our Compliance and Inspection Lead last autumn and has visited the School regularly. An IAPS Headmaster for 18 years, Alastair has led two very successful independent schools and has been an active ISI inspector since 2004.
Before becoming a headmaster in 2001, Alastair taught pupils in all age groups from 2 to 18, and was a Head of Sport and Geography as well as a housemaster of a successful boarding house. As Head, he led his schools to seven outstanding/excellent outcomes at inspection. During his career he acquired first-hand experience of a successful merger and transformed two failing schools into thriving entities.
Since retiring from headship in July 2019, Alastair has remained actively involved in independent education and has chaired two governing bodies, appraised IAPS heads and participated as an independent member on parental complaints and staff grievance panels. He has an extensive and varied boardroom and committee experience including as a Governor at one of the UK’s leading FE colleges, and as a member of Herefordshire Safeguarding Children Board. Having introduced international
boarding to both of his schools, Alastair has travelled extensively and lectured on the benefits of a British independent boarding education.
In his role as Compliance and Inspection Lead for KSI, Alastair has been a regular visitor to Kingsley since November 2020 and knows the school well. He is very excited about his appointment to Kingsley and is very much looking forward to guiding the School as it transitions to a new Head.
