Ladybirds 0 – 12 months

The Ladybirds have been exploring natural objects this week alongside creating poppies for Remembrance Day. We have also been playing with farm animals and learning what noises they make. We have started our Christmas craft using a variety of resources.

Next week we will be beginning to learn about colours and we will have a different colour to focus on each week.


Caterpillars 12 – 18 months

The Caterpillar room have also been making Poppies for Remembrance Day; we have been learning the colour ‘red’ by building towers using red blocks and have been mark making using chalk.

Next week we will be ‘filling and emptying’ using yellow scoops and yellow balls developing our hand eye co-ordination.

Butterflies 18 – 24 months

The Butterfly room have been busy counting a variety of objects during play exploration and group time. We have also been practising our balancing skills outside and in the physical room using the balance beam. We have also started to look at our Christmas craft this week

Next week we will be continuing our Christmas craft and focusing on being kind to others.

Bumblebees 24 – 30 months

The bumblebees have been creating their own firework/bonfire pictures and exploring colours and sounds around the environment. We have been on lots of nature walks around the school grounds collecting pine cones ready to decorate for our Christmas craft.

Next week we will be starting our Christmas craft activities including making wreaths. We will also be practising singing our Christmas songs and exploring other festivals around the world.


Dragonflies 30 – 36 months

This week we have been updating our artwork board exploring different textures and materials. We have also been developing our gross motor skills in the physical room.

Next week we will be focusing on our Phonics and learning to recognise numbers 1-10 at group time. We will also be starting our Christmas craft. . 


This week we have been learning about our senses in Pre-School, taste, touch, smell, sight and listening. We have been listening to different sounds of instruments in our music lesson, and exploring how a keyboard works. In our cookery session, we learnt about the different parts of our tongue and how we taste, sweet, savoury, spicy and sour.

Next week we will be introducing our topic of Christmas, learning some Christmas songs to perform at the end of term
