Sixth Formers, Sienna, Ben and Ginny were invited to Clovelly Lectures on Saturday 25th June to meet guest speaker Lord Mervyn King and listen to his fascinating lecture on ‘Coping with radical uncertainty.’
Lord Mervyn King served as Governor of the Bank of England from 2003 to June 2013. He was knighted (GBE) in 2011, made a life peer in 2013, and appointed by The Queen to be Knight of the Garter in 2014.
Kingsley pupils posed questions to Lord King in the live Q & A session after the lecture to understand his thoughts behind the eco-ecomony to which he had a strong view in regard to ensuring a circular economy is in place across the world, where nations work more successfully together to use less natural and raw materials, keep products in use longer and reduce waste and pollution.
‘In life we crave certainty which cannot exist, and invent knowledge we cannot have, forgetting that humans are successful because we have adapted to an environment that we understand only imperfectly.’ Lord Mervyn King
