The warmer weather suggests that Spring has now arrived, and with the arrival of Spring has come the arrival of 14 baby chicks in the Grenville Centre this week who all hatched out on Monday. Mother and babies all doing well I hear! Congratulations to all the gymnasts and Judoka who competed last weekend in national competitions who brought back a hoard of medals and certificates, and good luck to all those competing at the National Cross-country Finals this weekend in Nottinghamshire. Good luck also to the 10-Tors training teams who will be out and about on Dartmoor again this weekend. Students are enjoying Red Nose Day antics today as I write this with an eclectic interpretation of the red theme and wacky hair, whilst many of our staff and students are enjoying a ‘magical’ day at Harry Potter World – a trip postponed previously due to Covid-19.
It was a pleasure seeing parents of Year 11 students in school this week at Parents’ Evening and we look forward to meeting Year 10 parents next week. I will be asking for views on how we conduct these evenings in my Easter survey as there are pros and cons around meeting face-to-face versus the convenience for many of conducting these on an online platform. All of your views would be welcomed on this.

Church Service on 1st April
This is a reminder that we are planning to have an end of term church service at St Mary’s Church from 2.30pm on this day for all students. Parents are warmly invited to join and further details will follow.
Year 10 Parents’ Evening next Tuesday
Please collect the time of your appointments from your children for next Tuesday. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in person once again from 6pm in the library.
Year Group Parents’ Reps
The PTA recently discussed the idea of having Year Group Parents’ Representatives who might share their WhatsApp details with parents of others in that year group in order to start a WhatsApp group as a way of sharing information and networking. This would be an informal forum with no input or oversight by the school. If you are interested in having this role for your child’s year group, please let Lucy Goaman know, along with your contact details, which we are happy to then share with the rest of the parents in that year group.
