In 1942, Instow in Devon became home to a Royal Marine training base for amphibious vehicles in preparation for the Normandy landings. 77 years on, it continues to be a centre for innovation.

Thank you to the team at the Marine Base in Instow for inviting Years 3 & 4 for a visit, giving them a briefing and a tour of the base and equipment – including the “Dip Tank” . Out teachers Mr Wilson, Mr Trythall, Mrs Thorne, Miss Braunton, Mr Moore, Mr Lawrence, along with all the children had a wonderful time.
