Record A level results at Kingsley

Kingsley School, Bideford is delighted to congratulate the 6th form pupils who have just received their A level and BTEC results. 39% of our leavers achieved A/A* grades, making these record results at A level. We are especially proud of the achievement of Leon Mlodzian who got 4 A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and German and has been accepted to read Computer Science at Downing College, Cambridge University.

Other pupils have gained University places to read subjects as diverse as neuroscience, pharmacology, creative writing, urban planning and business management at prestigious UK universities including UCL, Loughborough, Newcastle, Nottingham, UEA, Cardiff, Manchester and Surrey.

Kingsley is rightly proud of its flexible Sixth Form curriculum which allows pupils to study a combination of both A levels and BTEC qualifications. The school’s BTEC results this summer have also been fantastic. Three pupils gained the highest possible grade (a starred distinction) in Sport and Outdoor Education and Robin Hopkins achieved double starred distinction in Outdoor Education alongside distinctions in Sport.

Sixth Former Robin Hopkins said, “I didn’t expect to see A*, A* and A when I opened my results envelope today!  I am just happy and grateful to Mrs Stella for pushing me every step of the way and Wendy Flint for being so amazingly kind and supportive, thank you. Thank you too for all the dyslexia help Kingsley has given me over the years since I joined in Year 10 when my reading and writing skills were very low.”

Sixth Former Rufus May, picked up 2 A* and a B along with lots of hugs from teachers who were so delighted that he smashed his exam result expectations.  Rufus said, “I cannot quite believe it, I have done so much better than I expected.  I cannot thank my teachers enough for all their help outside the classroom.  Doing all those extra essays and practice papers has been very worthwhile!  I have been at Kingsley for 5 years and will really miss everyone.”

Sixth Former Clarissa-Harding Crook opened her results and was delighted that she will be heading off to read History of Art and Design this year.  Clarissa said, “I joined in Year 9 from St Michael’s and everything at Kingsley has been brilliant.  The teachers at Kingsley have been great, and the last two years in the Sixth Form have been really enjoyable.”

The average UCAS score was 132 points, which is slightly better than the average of ABB for each pupil.

Mr Pete Last, Kingsley School headmaster said, “I am hugely proud of the excellent results that have been obtained by so many of our pupils and I am also delighted for the teachers who helped to prepare the Sixth Form for their public exams. We have an excellent Sixth Form here at Kingsley and I would be delighted to meet any pupils who think that our Sixth Form might be the right environment for them for the next 2 years.”
