Message from the Head

What a week it has been for our students! It started with a bronze medal for Finley, and finishes for James, Maddie and Henry in the Independent Schools Association national cross-country finals on Sunday. The sporting successes then continued with the U15 rugby 7s team winning the North Devon 7s at West Buckland on Tuesday, with semi-final and final victories over Park School and West Buckland School, and with the U16 netball team celebrating success away at Holsworthy on Wednesday, while the U13 netball team came out as winners against Bideford College. The U15 boys' football team won against Trinity School and we now await the results from the U11 national football finals and the gymnastics Milano finals, both tournaments taking place in the Midlands today. We also have students taking part in the Years 7-8 North Devon indoor athletics championships today. My congratulations go to Sydney, Imogen, Aurelija, Lily, Beth and Nicky who all took part in the South-west MFL speaking competition on Monday where two runners-up awards were achieved. Year 8 and Year 9 students have been involved in beach cleans this week as part of their Earth Centre pathway. Year 10 PE sports science students enjoyed a day at Bath University and we hosted a careers talk on Estate Agency for all those interested students. I will end this week with a shameless plug for the Bideford Half-marathon on Sunday. I am running this with members of my family, friends and some Kingsley colleagues to raise money for the Epilepsy Society. My wife Heather has had to cope with epilepsy for the last 35 years and the last few years have been particularly difficult for us all as a family.
