Mr Pavis' Video Newsletter: Friday April 19th 2024

Welcome back to our summer term at Kingsley Devon, and a hello to the Year 6 parents and students preparing to join us come September. To ease your transition to senior school, I invite you to tune into this video series every Friday for a weekly recap and a personal message from me.

This week kicked off with a bang with our years 7 to 9 participating in an enthralling World War I living history workshop in the theatre, replete with uniforms and gas masks. Our creativity continued to blossom with Les Enfants Terribles’ puppetry workshop for years 7 and 8, infusing life into the inanimate.

I’m brimming with pride for Freddie and Toby's musical contributions in local churches and clubs, shining examples of our thriving arts program. And our athletes aren’t far behind, with commendable performances in rugby, gymnastics, and swimming — a special nod to Harrison, Willow, and Elise for their medal hauls.

As we swing into the cricket and athletics seasons, I’m also thrilled to share the glowing ISI inspection report praising our outdoor education and Earth science pathways. Their impact on mental health, resilience, and leadership is immense.

Our adventurous spirit scales new heights this term with the Jubilee, Ten Tors, and Exmoor Challenges, and we've already ushered in the surfing season with over 120 students catching waves, thanks to our unique Surfing Academy.

Exciting news for surf enthusiasts: We’ve teamed up with O'Neill for a sustainable wetsuit and we've introduced a new lease program, details of which are available on our website or through Mr. Dupuy.

As the sun peeks out, don’t forget our upcoming wellness and mental health day on April 23rd, the PTA May day fair on May 6th, and our ongoing food bank contributions every Friday — your generosity is what fuels our Kingsley spirit.

Finally, a huge well done to years 11 and 15 for their stellar practice exam results. As year 10 and 12 brace for their exams, and years 11 and 13 gear up for their public ones, I send out a wave of good luck for all their efforts.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend, and I’ll catch up with you next week. Thank you.
